Stress is a normal condition. Everyone has stress due to employment, family, money, and other problems. If it affects the physical, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral problem of the person then it should be taken as a serious concern. Some of the warning signals of stress are Mood swings, excessive eating, headache, the feeling of loneliness, fatigue, insomnia, Low-self esteem, forgetfulness etc.

From the figure, 13-3 identified the stress warning signal: Headache

Alternative or complementary therapy: Progressive muscle relaxation therapy.

It is a technique used in the management of stress that relieves all physical symptoms related to stress. it works based on the principle of relaxation of muscle tension. Relaxation of muscles such as legs, chest, arms, abdomen, and head for approximately 10-20 min will relieve a headache in a short period of time. The pathophysiology behind this it stimulates the activity of parasympathetic muscles and thereby the decreases the cardiac output which results in lowering of blood pressure and relieve a headache.

Evidence of PMR therapy:

The results of the long-term benefits of PMR shows decreased BP, pulse, and headache and improves the quality of life.

Cost: It is an inexpensive therapy affordable for everyone and it depends on the individual needs and condition.

Accessible: It is accessible everywhere across the world.

Duration of therapy: PMR therapy should need a limited time of 15-20 min for 2 to 3 sessions daily.
