Answer #1

(b) The rate rate of a reaction doubles for every 10 °C rise in temperature.

IV) (1) F2 + CHBr3 ----> HF + CFBr3

(2) CBr3 is the intermediate.

(3) rate = K2 [F] [CHBr3]

Where [F] = 2k1[F2]/(2k-1[F] + k2[CHBr3] + k3[CBr3])

[CBr3] = k2[CHBr3]/k3

Therefore, [F] = k1[F2]/(k-1[F] + k2[CHBr3])

Hence, rate = k2k1[F2][CHBr3]/(k-1[F] + k2[CHBr3])

V) (1) The rate of change of pressure of N2 = 3/4 (-6) = -4.5 atm/min

The rate of change of pressure of NO2 = 6/4 (6) = 9 atm/min

(2) The overrate of change of pressure in the reaction vessel = (9) - {(-4.5) + (-6)} = 19.5 atm/min
