A. The drug inhibits the enzyme cyclooxygenase in platelets thereby reducing the thromboxane

Thromboxane is produced by activated platelets during hemostasis it stimulates activation of platelets and platelet aggregation, by activating the thromboxane receptor, which causes change in shape of platelets, activation of integrins, and degranulation of platelets. Circulating fibrinogen binds these receptors on adjacent platelets, further strengthening the clot. It is also a vasoconstrictor

B. It reversibly binds lysine receptor sites on plasminogen. This reduces conversion of plasminogen to plasmin, preventing fibrin degradation .

In secondry polycythemia there is increased tendency for thrombosis, which recruits more platelets for thrombosis and increased fibrin degradation products which may trigger DIC and lead to bleeding
