Development in the modern technology made nurses to work and care for clients more efficiently. The use of  computers, mobile electronic charts and use of radio-frequency identification (RFID)-enabled devices enables the work of nurses while caring and documenting the patient care.i

In order to use such technologies nurses should have a proper practical and technical knowledge and skills to handle the emerged technologies.  

• As the technology advances, home health care will be a best option to deliver the health care. Active and passive telemonitoring devices, safety cameras, telemedicine, sensors etc helps the patient to opt for home health care.
• Emerging use of genetics and genomics is a challenge to the nurses as they have little knowledge about the same.
• Non-invasive and minimally invasive tools for diagnostics and treatment reduces the patient risk and cost of health care.
• Robotic technologies can be used as adjunct care providers for some physical and mental health care provision.
• Biometrics increase the security of confidential healthcare information and eliminate the costs of managing lost password.
• Nurses have access to important client information from multiple providers, literally 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, allowing for better collaborated and coordinated patient care.
• CPOE, Computerised Provide Order Entry and clinical decision support change the ordering process resulting in lower costs, reduced medical errors, and more interventions based on evidence and best practices.
