Chevron is a US company and Royal Dutch is an Anglo-Dutch company. Discuss the role of the country in explaining differences in compensation structure between CEO’s of these two companies.

Royal dutch follows Anglo American standard of compensation where fixed components ratio is 20 percent while variables compensation ratio is 80 percent in line with industrial standards. Also mix of Long term incentives plan, annual bonuses and individual performance pay is brekaup of total compensation.

Similarly Chevron follows higher fixed component of 30 percent while variables of 70 percent with segregation of salary into Long term and short term goal incentive, annual bonus, stock options, company and individual performance. This is different from Royal Dutch becaus eof cultural background, costs of operating, goals set yealry and costs of living of the CEO of each company creating variation in compensation structure.
