The transfer of government fuctions to the private sector is called privitization.Government funding of health insurance for children from low-income families and expansion of Medicaid under the Obama health care plan are the examples of privitization in USA.

Children's Health Insurance Program(CHIP) is a joint program by the federal government and states and was based on the Medicaid Federal Madical Assistance Percentage (FMAP) Formula. Today CHIP covers nearly 90 lakhs children from low income families and it reduced the uninsured children in the nation tremendously.

Obama health care plan or the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) came into effect in 2010. This law was introduced to extend health coverage to uninsured Americans. It is mainly focussed on Medicaid populations and made new approaches to reducing costs and improving health care quality. Through this program the total number of uninsured Americans dropped from 42 million to 25 million during 2013-2015.
