Conversion of glutamic acid to alphaketoglutarate is the anaplerotic reaction.

As anapleortic reactions are those reactions which replenish the intermediates formed in a cycle. Citric acid cycle is amphibolic which involves both catabolic as well as anabolic process. Alpha ketoglutarate served as a precursor of glutamate. So, this is one is replenished by anapleortic reaction
