We have to make reasonable interpretation of this result.

In testing of hypothesis for mean using t test we state the hypothesis:

H₀: A treatment has no significant effect on human memory

Vs

H₁: A treatment has significant effect on human memory

Decision rule: Reject H₀ if p-value < 0.05 level of significance ( we use 0.05 when it is not given) , otherwise we fail to reject H₀.

Since p-value = 0.17 > 0.05 level of significance, we fail to reject H0.

Thus we conclude that: treatment has no significant effect on human memory.
