1. Performance measurement is one of the foundations to improve health care quality. Clinical performance will improve by setting standards for clinical processes.

Example: Mr X has a history of hypertension and diabetes, has no complaints. Since patient is on medications, his conditions are improving. As his physician Mr Y finishes his rounds, he sees that there is variations appearing in the lipoprotien count more than what is recommended for diabetic patients on the Electronic Health Record Machine. Hence Mr Y again starts medications to reduce Mr X lipoprotien.

This example helps us to understand that these performance indicators help in acting as a safety net for the care that is missed or later in the form of feedbacks.

2. The goal of knowing /assessing the performance of a nurse is to promote the highest clinical standards and to make sure the best quality of patient care through transparency, accountability and credibility which are the quality measures.

Rhodes, Bechtle, and McNett (2015) implemented incentive plan which was designed to reward employers for their hard work and quality performance.

3. Incentives payment are very much required when care are provided by Nurse Practitioner. Monetary bonuses, reward distributions and compensations of the work performed are part of incentive payment which encourages the employees to do their best as well as enhance best patient care. The Nurse Practitioner should be well satisfied with the job she does.

The external motivators that help the Nurse Practitioner in helping improve are organizational and administrative policies, interpersonal relationships, good working conditions, employee status.
