lattice energy is proportional to the product of charges divided by radius.
thus,
E ~ q1q2/r
in (a) we have NaF and NaCl.
the charges are the same, but the radii change. chlorine is a larger atom, thus r is greater, which makes E smaller. thus NaCl is lower lattice energy.
in (b) we have K2S and K2O, we apply the same logic here, where sulfur is larger than oxygen, thus K2S is lower lattice energy.
