You will note that unemployment is generally higher in inner cities and especially amongst youths, why do you think this is so and also provide data and information of groups that you feel have too high unemployment.

Reasons for unemployment in Inner cities:

• Youth in such cities have low expectations and ambitions.So, they are less interested in moving out to big cities and try their luck to find meaningful employment.
• Youth in such cities lack proper skill set as required by employers. They do not have access to proper education which make them unfit for the high income job markets.
• Less industries or companies are being set up in such areas as these areas have lack of efficient resources so, it is not profitable for the organizations to establish at such places.
• People in such cities have low income. So, they are caught in the vicious circle of poverty and they find it difficult to break this circle and improve their standard of living.
• Such areas are prone to crime, violence, epidemics and many other problems. As a result Organizations and Industrial units are hesitant to invest in such areas.
• Geographical location of such cities also pose a big challenge as neither people from other areas or organizations willing to work over there resulting in slow or no development.

Young members of minorities, teenagers, school dropouts and young blacks have highest rate of unemployment.
