Some of the environmental effects that have been associated with meat production are pollution through fossil fuel usage, animal methane, effluent waste, and water and land consumption. The study found that modern beef production uses 30 percent less land and 20 percent less feed. 5. Abstaining from eating meat one day per week has only a negligible impact in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Meat production may actually produce some benefits for the environment.By replacing meat with vegetarian sources of protein, (nuts, seeds, beans and lentils, for example), we can reduce carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions. The whole food production process of farm-to-plate totals 30% of all global greenhouse gas emissions
