Answer #1

A) As we know virginia is state in southeastern and midAtlantic regions of the united states. This is located between Atlantic coast and Appalachian mountains . Because of old and strong rocks in Eastern united states , the vibrations are effectively transmitted. Since the Eastern rocks generate large energy ,the virginia earthquake was louder.

B) Millions of years ago ,European continents and North America slammed into each other many times forming Appalachian mountains and when they separated, the Atlantic ocean was born.As the reason of continental collisins, there are many faults on the East coast , and so since high frequency vibrations formed from shallow earthquakes in east region compared to west .
