1.) What advice would you give as a Public health Nurse if you have to run a community meeting that focus on a predicted, mandatory evacuation plan due to a natural disaster? What suggestions would you make to the public to be taken to make the process of evacuation safe?

2.) A tornado has recently occurred in your community and you are working as a Public Health Nurse at your local emergency shelter. Many families have been displaced including young children and the elderly population. What potential interventions might you have to implement using the intervention wheel model?

1. Evacuation plan needs to be carried out at the time of emergency. We need to evacuate the people out of threat or danger, which will affect their mode of living. Emergency evacuation is a urgent evacuation or immediate escape of people out of threat. Evacuation plan will be carried out during or before or after disaster such as natural calamities like earth quake, flood, tsunami, volcanos, draughts etc : other calamities such as bombing , nuclear war, terrorist attack,, chemical spill,, viral outbreak etc. In these conditions, we need to implement evacuation plan.

Suggestions to the public : As a public health nurse,, we need to give prior information to the public about the evacuation plans. We need to discuss with the people about evacuation plans in detail.. Alarm are disclosed to the public, according to the individual convenience both visual alarm and aural alarm need to be set. When evacuating the public, safety is the very important criteria to be kept in mind, even when shifting the disable persons. While implementing evacuation plan, all the individuals need to be shifted to safest place.. Necessary items to be packed and kept ready for transportation..

2. Intervention model defines the scope of public health nursing by type of intervention and level of practice. Check the area affected by tornado. Check the people affected by tornado.. Treat them if they are injured. Move people to the basement or a room without windows.. Mobile house are not safe. Check with the authorities about the safety before returning to the shelter .
