Define chronotropy, inotropy, and lusitropy. Does b-adrenergic stimulation change chronotropy, inotropy and/or lusitropy in the myocytes of the left ventricle? If so, what is the direction of change and how does each change influence cardiac output? How is the b-adrenergic response similar to the response to elevated Ca2+ levels? How is the b-adrenergic response different from the response to elevated extracellular Ca2+?

Inotropy : Strength and force of tension developed and velocity of shortening myocardial fibres at given preload and afterload is called inotropy.

Chronotrophy: Rate of myocardial muscle contraction is called chronotrophy.

Lusitrophy: When the actin and myosin binding breaks , relaxation of the heart Chambers occurs . The property of myocardial relaxation is lusitrophy.

The sympathetic nervous system influence the function of myocardium by stimuating via beta adrenergic receptors. Beta adrenergic stimulation play an important role in heart by increasing the heart rate ,increasing the heart's contractility .It changes the chronotrophy and inotrophy ,lusitrophy in the myocytes of left ventricle .Inotrophy and chronotrophy occurs in systolic activity and lusitrophy in diastole. Ventricular systolic function determines the  volume of blood pumped from the left ventricle per beat and depends on inotropy, love and chronotrophy.
