Linear Regression is used for finding relation between two continuous variables. One variable is predictor or independent variable while the other is response or dependent variable. It gives statistical relation rather than deterministic relation.

Correlation coefficient is used to find the strength of relation between two variables. It measures the strength and direction of relation between two variables. Denoted by r.
