A school psychologist wants to test the effectiveness of a new method of teaching French. She recruits 800 fifth-grade students and randomly divides them into two groups. Group 1 is taught by means of the new method, while group 2 is taught by traditional methods. The same teacher is assigned to teach both groups. (a)

Response variable is the one which shows the effect which the treatment had on the group receiving it. In this case the response variable is the results achieved on the test.

(b)

Since results are measured using marks, so this makes it a quantitative variable.

(c)

Treatment is the new teaching methodology which is given to one of the groups.

(d)

The control group is the one which does not receive the treatment. So in this case it is the group which is taught using traditional methods.

(e)

This is an independent measures design, as both the groups receive different treatment conditions, randomly.

(f)

There are total 200 subjects in the study.

All the parts have been aswered correctly by you except part (e).
