'= 100 DATA VALUES??
SO, WHAT DOES A FREQUENCY TABLE TELL US?
If you wrote each of the above data values on a ping pong ball,, put them in a jar and blindly pulled one out:
What is the probability that this ball would have a number between 1 and 10 on it: _____, between 21 and 40: _____

Answer #1

The frequency table for the given data looks as follows:

Range Frequency Relative Freq. Cum. Freq.
1-10 10 10% 10%
11-20 10 10% 20%
21-30 8 8% 28%
31-40 8 8% 36%
41-50 13 13% 49%
51-60 11 11% 60%
61-70 14 14% 74%
71-80 9 9% 83%
81-90 9 9% 92%
91-100 8 8% 100%

Using the above table:

1) P(Ball has a number between 1 and 10 on it) = Relative frequency of range 1-10 = 10% = 0.1

2)  P(Ball has a number between 21 and 40 on it) = Relative frequency of range 21-40 = 8% + 8% = 0.16

3)  P(Ball has a number between 31 and 70 on it) = Relative frequency of range 31-70

= 8% + 13% + 11% + 14% = 0.46

Also since there is an even set of numbers the median is found by taking the mean of the two middle numbers (In other words the 50th and 51st). You have to code your own sorting method. You may not use a built in java sorter....
