Answer #1

Q11. molar enthalpy of evaporation = 40.1 kJ/mol

molar enthalpy of condensation = -(molar enthalpy of evaporation)

molar enthalpy of condensation = -(40.1 kJ/mol)

molar enthalpy of condensation = -40.1 kJ/mol

mass of water = 43.5 g

moles water = (mass of water) / (molar mass water)

moles water = (43.5 g) / (18.0 g/mol)

moles water = 2.417 mol

enthalpy of condensation = (moles water) * (molar enthalpy of condensation)

enthalpy of condensation = (2.417 mol) * (-40.1 kJ/mol)

enthalpy of condensation = -96.9 kJ

(negative sign indicates release of heat)
