Always ensure this first while giving medicine.

Eye medicine ointment:- before administering perform hand washing to prevent transmission of infection. Make a cavity in lower eyelid by downward stretching the skin under lower lid and instill right dose of drug.ask the patient to remain in lying down position for some time.

Before giving medicines always check physician orders, expiry date of medicines. Instruct patient about how to take medicines especially in sublingual type

For IM/IV type of injection inform patient about the pricking of needle.
