Given is:

Distance of the course = 10 km or  104m 7n

speed of the old runner  so-3.86m/s

speed of the young runner  Sy = 4.52m/s

Now,

the time taken by old runner to complete the course is

distance time = speed

by plugging all the values we get

104 o 3,86

which gives us

t, 2590.67~ 2591s

Similarly time taken by the young boy is

104 y4.52 3

y 2212.39 2213s

Thus

the time difference is

to-ty-2591-2213

378

Hence,

the younger boy should start the race 378 seconds later than the old runner to finish the line at the same time
