As you have read in the document describing the treatment/status of women in Taliban enclaves, this treatment/status is significantly different from the general treatment/status of women in the United States. Consider the following two characterizations of this difference in treatment/status:

[a] Men and women are moral equals. As moral equals women are entitled to the same consideration of their interests, wants, and individual happiness that is given to men. Societies, communities, groups who think and act otherwise [groups such as the Taliban] are just wrong and the treatment of women in these societies are morally wrong.

[b] Men and women may be considered moral equals in some societies [in the U. S. A., for example] but this "equal status" assessment reflects a morality that does not apply to Taliban.  It is not just that the Taliban have different beliefs about "equals".  It is simply not a truth that men and women are equals.  That men and women are equals is the 'correct' morality merely for some, not for all. Thus the moral assessment of the treatment of women in Taliban communities using a moral standard that does not apply to them is nonsense. Such assessment is analogous to  assessing the state tax liability of California residents using the Pennsylvania state tax code. The Pennsylvania state tax code does not apply to residents of California and, hence, such an assessment is nonsense.

In this forum, [i], explain which one, [a] or [b], comes closer to your view of the treatment of Taliban women AND [ii],explain what you would offer as evidence in support of your view [objectivist or relativist] if you were trying to convince someone on the other side that there understanding of morality is mistaken.

Answer #1

To the view of the treatment of Taliban women the most closer argument is [b] As according to this it is not compulsory that each society must have same belief for a particular topic. Their belief is different from other communities.

But they are wrong as if they treat two men equally then why a woman is not treated equally. Their morals are different than others. But we have to convince them as there are may be some women who don’t want equal rights but definitely there are also who want to have equal rights like men.

We should provide them some examples of successful women who not only earning and giving benefits to their family but also doing well for the countries. Some women are also interested in business and many more different fields.

We should provide them opportunities at least so that they can explore in their own way and can prove to be beneficial for the country as well.
