1) Dominant species are those that are abundant in a community of ecosystem. They contain the highest biomass and compete among other species of the community to establish the undisputed dominance. In the movie, "Strange days on planet Earth: Predators", the dominant species in the Yellowstone national park are the wolves which predate on elks killing them thereby changing the shape of entire ecosystem.
