The course Law, Ethics and Corporate Governance helped me to have a basic understanding about workplace laws and workplace ethics. These laws and principles helped me in having knowledge about the basic rights and responsibilities of an employee. Through this course, I got the crucial understanding about how critical is insider trading and the role of corporate governance to keep a check on such acts.

Effective corporate governance will keep a check on any kind of employee exploitation. It is the duty of corporate governance to incorporate sustainable measures so as to facilitate the company’s profitability and its overall brand image in the market. The corporate governance theories which are quite relevant for workplace setting are:

• Stewardship Theory: As per this theory, stewards i.e. business and process owners work with the objective of protecting and maximizing shareholders wealth. This is done by exceeding the firm’s overall performance.
• Stakeholder Theory: This theory exhibits the accountability and answerability of the company’s management to the stakeholders of the company.

This course and the knowledge of these theories would help me evolve as a better person.
