Answer #1

Given : concentration of Ca(OH)2 = 5.0 x 10-3 M

Calcium hydroxide Ca(OH)2 is a strong base which completely dissociates according to the equation :

Ca(OH)2 (aq) \rightarrow Ca2+ (aq) + 2 OH- (aq)

1 molecule of Ca(OH)2 gives 2 ions of OH-

concentration of OH- = 2 * (concentration of Ca(OH)2)

concentration of OH- = 2 * (5.0 x 10-3 M)

concentration of OH- = 10.0 x 10-3 M

concentration of OH- = 1.0 x 10-2 M

Correct option is (d) 1.0 x 10-2 M
