There are 3 different ways of food getting contaminated

physical, chemical or biological

Cross contamination occurs when bacteria or virus are transferred from contaminated food, or unclean utensils to other food, Most of the bacteria are present in raw meat, poultry, seafood, raw vegetables such as unwashed potatoes ,leafy vegetables. All bacteria in the raw food is killed when cooked properly. Foods that are consumed raw should be washed properly with water before consumption. Hand hygiene and proper storage of food in refrigerator are also very essential to prevent cross contamination

Brad can prevent cross contamination and food borne illness by the following ways

Proper hand hygiene

Using clean utensils

Boiling or steaming of poultry( chicken)  kills the bacteria
