Desktop or Laptop Smartphone
1. Communications:

Hardware:

It will ethernet option available. And some more external adapters to connect to ethernet or wi-fi. communication takes place using them.

Software:

Desktop applications like skype,google voice helps us to communicate.

Hardware:

It will have celluar network connectiviy adapter internally. Internal wi-fi adapters are available.

Software:

Messaging, Voice calling, Video calling is available.

2. Data

Storage Size:More storage than Smart Phones. Generally in TBs'

File system: FAT(Windows),GFS(Linux),HFS(Mac OS),etc.

Encryption: Windows Bit Locker, FileVault in Mac OS. etc.

Compressions: We have NTFS compression for Windows.

Storage Size: less storage than computers/laptop. Most of them are in GBs'

File Systems: exFAT,F2FS etc.

Encryption: No automatic encryption, but in smartphone we can add security

Compression: 3rd party solutions like M-Archive, Filzip are used.
