By completing the information technology fundamentals, I will have
a better understanding of how to manage, process, retrieve and
report financial data. Accounting Information Systems processes
financial and nonfinancial transactions that have direct relation
for processing financial transactions. And by completing the
Information technology fundamentals, I’ll be able to apply that
knowledge of the software, hardware, and system operations
alongside the planning, forecasting, and control when working in
any area of finance, whether it’s at a private firm or government
operated entity. Companies usually have hundreds to thousands of
transactions on a daily or monthly basis so the best way to keep
track of these financial transactions is the use of information
technology such as software is very important for accountants to be
ethical and professional at all times and there are so many people
depending on the ethical behaviour of accountants and that would be
the public, investors, clients, and employees. Accountants are
required to comply with laws and regulations and have to act with
integrity and free of conflicts at all times. Information
Technology is evolving and is used in all walks of life so
Accountants need to be to be competent of all the latest technology
and resources to better serve their clients. And one area that is
important because of the Independence rule is “hosting services”
and understanding what would be against the independence rule and
how the accountant is held accountable. . And lastly but not least,
accountants must have knowledge of the software when working for an
entity to make sure that financial data is accurate and that there
are policies and procedures for a separation of duties in place to
ensure that each accountant is held accountable for any
inaccuracies or intentional overstatements of cash flows. The
objectives of this course would help me as an accountant in so many
ways, from auditing or just working for a company because it’s
important to know the systems that you work with on a day to day
basis and other systems that are available. Also, understanding
what would hold me personally accountable and red flags that I
should look out for that would be against the professional code of
conduct.
To fully understand your accountability
