For a qualifying relative who is not a parent, to qualify a taxpayer to be head of household, he/she must live in home "more than half the year" and you can claim him/her as a dependent and is one of the followings: son, daughter, stepchild, foster child, brother, sister, half-brother, half-sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law etc.
