What are some business etiquete differences between Canada & Brazil?

There are vast differences between Canada and Brazil while following the business etiquette. Both the countries are are also located in different continents. While Canada is located in North America, Brazil is located in South America. Both the countries have varying traditions, language,culture, societal norms which determine their varying business etiquette. The differences between Canada and Brazil in terms of business etiquttes can be understood from the following points-

Canadian business etiquette-

1) While conducting business, Canadian people are very punctual and disciplined. They respect and give value to others' time. Hence they always reach a place for meeting or other business purposes exactly before time and hate people who come late. They never hesitate to cancel any business deal if the persons with whom they were supposed to carry out business come late.

2) Canadians always expect their business partners to understand their business plan thoroughly and in a detailed manner in order to make these successful. They hate any kind of evasiveness from the other side.

3) Canadian are very conservative in terms of following business etiquettes whether it is speech, dress or eye contact. They always prefer formal dress while dealing any business plans. excessive body gesture, body contacts, eye contacts, loud conversations are looked down upon in a business meeting.

4) People like to be informed before hand if any business deals, meetings are going to happen. There is no instance of Canadians to arrive for any business without any formal intimation.

Brazilian business etiquette-

1) in case of Brazil, People here are very social due to which business meetings and talks happen for very short duration and irrelevant. They believe in building rapport and relationships with their partners in order to have a healthy business relation. They prefer not to rush for a business deal unless and until they have cordial and friendly relations with their business partners.

2) People having good knowledge about culture, language, tradition etc of Brazil are valued more by Brazilians to conduct businesses.

3) Unlike Canadians,Brazilian people are very friendly and they like their business partners who mix up with them easily. It is not uncommon in Brazil to show their friendliness and excitement by touching oneself's arms. Body gestures, eye contacts etc are very common in a business meeting.

4) Most business deals are signed informally. they don't believe in formal communications. They prefer face to face conversations for businesses and no matter what, verbal remarks are always held accountable for everything despite having written claims and information.
