Answer #1

Since the preferred shares are cumulative, unpaid dividend of preferred stockholders would be accumulated and paid before anything is paid to common stockholders. The preference dividend of earlier years will also be paid before current year dividend of common stockholders.

Dividend per annum of preferred stockholders = 25,000*100*2% = $50,000

2.Annual Average Dividend for preferred = (0.8+2.4+2.8+2+2+2)/6

= $2 per share

Annual average dividend for common = (0+0+0.25+0.6+0.9+1.3)/6

= $0.5083 per share

3.Annual average percentage return = Annual average dividend/market price per share

Preferred Stock = 2/105 = 1.90%

Common Stock = 0.5083/11 = 4.62%
