Answer #1
Concepts and reason

The organic reaction is an oxidation reaction in which the reactant gets oxidized using PCC.

Mild oxidizing nature of PCC leads to more selective in oxidation of alcohols to carbonyls and will not oxidize carbonyl compounds to carboxylic acid. Tertiary alcohols are unreactive in oxidation with PCC.

Fundamentals

Oxidation: It is the process of adding oxygen and removing electron and hydrogens.

Pyridinium chlorochromate (PCC): In the organic synthesis, this reagent is used for the oxidation of alcohols to carbonyl compounds. PCC is soluble in organic solvents such as dichloromethane (CH2Cl2)\left( {{\rm{C}}{{\rm{H}}_{\rm{2}}}{\rm{C}}{{\rm{l}}_{\rm{2}}}} \right) . The structure of PCC depicted in figure 1.
