1) Activation energy is the minimum amount of energy that is required to activate atoms or molecules to a condition in which they can undergo a chemical transformation or physical transport.

2) An exothermic reaction is a chemical reaction that releases energy through light or heat. It is the opposite of an endothermic reaction. Expressed in a chemical equation: reactants → products + energy.

3) This is true. Increasing the surface area of a solid reactant exposes more of its particles to attack. This results in an increased chance of collisions between reactant particles, so there are more collisions at any given time and the rate of reaction increases.

4) This is also true. Usually conducting a reaction at a higher temperature delivers more energy into the system and increases the reaction rate by causing more collisions between particles, as explained by collision theory.
