Mountain “climbers frequently require expensive rescue operations. Should the government provide these rescue services to recreational mountain climbers? Should there be some limit – say, three days or $100,000worth of ‘rescue’ – that the government should provide? What public policy do you think should prevail for rescuing endangered mountain climbers? Would the same policy apply to coal miners trapped underground?

Yes the government should provide such rescue services . Government is a non-profit welfare organization whose duty is to allocate resources for welfare of people . Even if mountain climbing is a recreational activity still government should allocate funds for such emergencies because it is their duty to protect the citizens . Also such protection provided attract tourists and mountain climbing activity maybe re recreational for some but for many it may be a source of income generation ( such as guides ) . So such protective measures will help this economy to survive .

Limit of funds allocated for rescue should be based on availability of funds . Government should rather limit certain activities which maybe too risky during climbing to prevent mishaps .

Public policy of emergency funds allocation or discretionary expenditure from government resources is followed .

Coal miners require more protection since their work is more risky and their work aggrement involves such facilities .
