The principle of indifference talks about how people are indifferent to what combination of goods they obtain if the goods provide the same utility. However, an individual’s indifference curve can be more weighted to a certain good if a person has a preference for one item over the other. Whoever has the most preference for the good, will demand the good the most, even if it is at a higher price. Those with minimal preference for the good will are unlikely to obtain the good. This principle can easily be applied to a job search.  During my last job search, I applied to multiple companies. According to the indifference principle, the job that I have the most preference toward is the one that I am most likely to obtain. If I do not have a preference towards a specific job than any of the jobs I am offered would be fine. The indifference principle is a good reminder to consider all positions equally and to not put too much weight on one over another in case you do not receive that job. It is important to look at all aspects of a position. One position might pay better, but another may be less demanding. It is all about looking at both positions open-mindedly, and it should help lead to the best end result.
