Answer #1

The message that is delivered orally varies from the message that is delivered in written format in the following ways -

1. In messages delivered in written format, there is a clear record of communication between the parties involved. However, when the message is delivered orally, there is no record of communication that is available. Therefore, written communication provides legal evidence if that is needed in the future.

2. In messages delivered in written format, there is relatively less time urgency. On the other hand, messages delivered orally have time urgency. In other words, transmission of oral message is faster as compared to the written message (which are asynchronous in nature). This provides scope for immediate feedback or discussion on an issue as compared to written messages.

3. Written communication leaves little scope for misinterpretation while oral message has a relatively high scope for misinterpretation. The reason is written communication is well drafted with careful use of words while oral communication is relatively spontaneous and leaves room for error in understanding and judgement.
