Answer #1

Productivity is an assessment of the efficiency of the system in converting inputs to the useful outputs as desired. For a system to increase its efficiency the human workforce which is playing a crucial role in the overall process should be efficient. The efficiency of human workforce is inherently a function of competence and skill as well as motivation towards the goal. The more skillful the human workforce the system can attain the results with speed and accuracy. Competence ensures that all the resources available are being utilized to the maximum extent for the system, increasing the productivity. The various skills, abilities, experience, personality traits and motivators that contribute to someone performing well in their position within the system can increase overall efficiency. The Ability to work effectively is a lot of time dependent on the personality traits of the worker, his environment of work, his interaction with co-workers, motivation, incentives, etc.

For example:-

Two managers were competing for a project for a client. The first manager checked the progress of the team on daily basis. Whereas, the other manager in addition to proper attention to the skills, also gave importance to the proper incentives for team motivation. This resulted in the increase in efficiency of the team to co-operate effectively and the task was completed fast and with more accuracy. Which for the first team, resulted in sometimes rising contradictions in workers and the overall efficiency being down. So, importance to proper motivation, dividing workload according to proper skill-set to increasing competence, have paved the way for the second team.
