Explain Patterns of Strengths and Weaknesses (PSW) Cross Battery Model for Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD)
Patterns of Strength and Weaknesses (PSW) is a model which determines the Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD). SLD is a condition which may arise either due to brain injuries or due to some other factors such as genetic diseases.
It hampers the writing, speaking and memorising capabilities of a person. Perceptual disabilities are also a type of these diseases. Person also feel difficulties in performing mathematical tasks. Auditory, visual and psychological attention are ;part of effective learning.
If these abilities are disrupted then SLD is being caused. Each student has certain areas of strengths and certain weak areas also. Their strengths and weaknesses depend on various factors like age and intellectual development.
PSW provides various data and links for study which proves to be helpful in determining the growth areas and weak areas of a person. PSW works on following principles:-
1. Full scale IQ is not important.
2.Average ranged capability remains good for any area.
3. We should determine our specific weaker areas and stronger areas.
4. Links between strengths and weaknesses should be based on proper research.
5. We should try to identify the weak areas and areas of strength through step wise approaches and then executions should take place in planned manner.

Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of cross-sectional studies and examples of how they can be "descriptive" or "analytic" study designs. Discuss an example of a disease where survival could influence the association between a possible exposure and the disease when measured with a cross-sectional study.
