area of its aluminum fUll TUII 63. Songs on an iPod Davids iPod has about 10,000 songs. The distribution of the play times for these songs is heavily skewed to the right with a mean of 225 seconds and a standard deviation of 60 seconds. (a) Describe the shape of the sampling distribution of īfrSRSs ofsize n = 5 from the population of songs on Davids iPod. Justify your answer (b) Describe the shape of the sampling distribution of x for SRSs of size n 100 from the population of songs on Davids iPod. Justify your answer

Answer #1

Ans:

a)If population distribution is not normally distributed i.e. skewed, then sampling distribution of sample means will not be normally distribution for sample sizes less than 30.So,sampling distribution of sample means will be skewed.

b)As,sample size is sufficiently large i.e. n>=30,then sampling distribution of sample means will follow normal distribution irrespective of the shape of the population distribution.
