Decision: On Feb 15, 2019, Amazon announced its official decision to cancel its strategic plan to open a second HQ in Long Island City, Queens. This decision was taken as a result of the constant protests and opposition offered by the localities and law makers of the region. This move is considered as a win for the activism offered against the company. The protestors were protesting against the decision of second HQ opening in their region as they had the doubt that this move would add up to the taxes that they would have to pay to the government, thereby pressurizing their financial freedom. Amazon did try to pacify them but as the protests were continuous, it feared that the controversy could impact its overall business and hence, made the decision of cancelling the opening of second corporate HQ in Long Island City, Queens.

A woman visitor had visited the Manhattan criminal court to visit a prisoner. The woman was made to sign a consent form and undergo a search, after which she would be allowed to meet the accused. The woman was given no option and was asked to strip in front of the male prison officers.

The 4^th Amendment Rights of the woman were violated and she was searched forcefully and quite unlawfully. The search request was quite unreasonable, especially when there was no woman prison officer to conduct the search. This was clearly a blow against the constitutional rights of the woman.

In the year 2010, Facebook data leak scandal happened when Facebook had released a new platform to public called open graph. Data of the consumers who visited that application got stored in the backend. The data from the open graph was used by Cambridge Analytica, another analytical firm. Cambridge Analytica used this consumer data for conducting predictive analysis for Donald Trump’s election voting campaign.

This can be considered as data and security breach on the part of Facebook. The primary factor which may have caused this data leak, can be the carelessness of Facebook. Facebook had left the data access of open graph quite easily accessible, which eventually led any firm registered over its network, to have access of the consumer data. Moreover, Facebook was storing the consumer’s data illegally as the company did not take prior permission from the consumers. This can be considered morally and socially unethical.

The primary loss was compromise of the privacy of the consumers. Also it led to violation of the human rights as the consumer data was accessed without taking prior consent or approval of the consumers.

Both companies, Facebook and Cambridge Analytica was fined heavily for this data leak scandal.
