Answer #1

Islam ; A religion of peace.

Islam is a religion practiced by people called Muslims. It holds the belief that universe has been created by a divine power called Allah who is only one in number, and Mohammad ( PBUH ) is the prophet and messenger of Allah. Allah is one among the other 99 names used to address God.
Islam today is considered the second largest religion among others, with almost 1.8 billion ( which forms 24% of the total population of followers spread all over the globe)

Teachings:
Islam teaches God is one, and has created the earth and human kind to test them. The people of this religion believe the worldly desires are just a delusion and the actual life is in the hereafter and whoever does the good deeds will be entitled to stay and live in place called " heaven" and those who are evil will reside in "Hell" forever.

Significant events :

"Quran; Revealing of the holy book" :
One of the most significant events in the history of Islam is the revealing of the holy book "Quran" in the form of revelations that guide the human kind to follow the right path.
In Islam , Allah has guided the Muslims to judge between right and wrong through revealing onto them a scripture called "The Holy Quran" which is considered as the book of guidance to live a fulfilled and contented life. It preaches them how people in past who transgressed were punished which acts a lesson for the people not to follow that way. Besides it tells them how to deal with situations during tough times and how Allah will reward them for their good doing and how close he is to them The book is viewed as the verbatim word of God and has a profound significance for Muslims.
The books contains rules, regulations, lessons from past and teachings of prophets called ( Sunnah ) so that Muslims may govern their activities and protect their imaan (faith).
Quran is believed to be revealed to the last prophet in Islam called "The Prophet Mohammad" (peace be upon him) through the angel of Allah called Jibril (Alayhisalaam) over a decade ago.

The Eid_ul_Azha: The Sacrifice of prophet Ibrahim:

In Islam a day is celebrated which occupies as an necessary ritual of a most significant event taken place at the time of prophet Ibrahim (Alyhisalaam) who was a very commendable, honest, and outstanding follower of Allah. whom The event took place between the tenth and twelfth of Dhul Hijjah which is the last month in the calendar of Islam , during which Allah commanded Ibrahim (Alayhisalaam ) to sacrifice his first and only son, Prophet Ismail (Alayhisalaam) who was born to his second wife after a long period of time and after making tons of "Dua" ( requesting Allah to provide something ). This sacrifice was actually the test of his belief to see the quantum of Imaan he has for his religion , to which he unflinchingly agreed without giving a second thought as he believed "The son is given to him by Allah Azawajal and now he is asking him back"
This unflinching will of Ibrahim Alayhisalaam for agreeing to sacrifice his son without asking a single question was very much praised by Allah , thus making a miracle to happen when while he was about to slaughter his son, a white Goat came from sky which was sacrificed instead of his Son.

This even called "Qurbani" is now carried as a ritual of slaughtering a goat every year on same time, for sacrificing a livestock which is distributed among relatives and neighbours and the event is named Eid_ul_azha.

The Holy Ritual "Hajj"

The same prophet "Ibrahim" alayhisalaam was commanded by Allah to build within a desert ; a holy place for people to remember Allah. This pilgrimage is known as Hajj, called one of the five pillars of Islam.
The ritual takes place between the 8th and 12th every year during the days of Dhu-al-Hijjah.
Hajj is the practice of revolving around the the Kaaba a tomb , (which was made by prophet Ibrahim alyhisalaam and his son prophet Ismail alyhisalaam) by collecting stones around the desert. Today it is considered as the most sacred place where various miracles have taken place and witnessed by people. It constitutes one of the pillar of Islam.

The month Of Ramadan :
One of the most sacred month , the month of forgiveness , the month of mercy, the ninth month in Islamic calendar when all many such events took place among which one is the revealing of holy Quran. This month is "the month of fasting" where in the Muslims are prescribed to eat nothing from sun rise to dawn so as to purify their souls. Moreover a day in the month called Laylat al Qadr "The night Of Power" where Muslims stay up for the whole night asking Allah for forgiveness of their sins for the whole year. This night is said to be the night where Allah has bestowed upon Muslims the acceptance of each Dua.
