AS both the boxes reamin at rest, it means that an equivalent force to the applied force should actina n opposing direction.
Now, as the force acting on both the boxes are 30 N, an equivalent force of 30 N has to be applied on both boxes so that the boxes would remain in a state of rest.
Hence, the frictionalforces on either boxes will be EQUAL because the boxes remain at rest
