Planning for training
Planning for training program requires lots of coordination and event management, planning of multiple tasks needs to be done before hand to ensure a good training experience of employees. Training plan is a detailed document which tell us about all the tasks that needs to be completed. As we plan for training program, we take note of each and every point which can impact the training. In my view following things needs to be taken into the mind to plan for a training:
Contents of training
In order for training to be effective, content of training needs to be effective. We need to carefully decide what all content we want to cover in order to successfully implement our system, all important key process, steps needs to be taken into the account, all of the content beautifully designed needs to be stored in presentation so that same can be used on training day.
Methods of training
Once content of training is decided, we need to decide whether it will facilitator led training or interactive training or a computer based training or mix of all three or mix of two Basis the requirement of system implementation, a suitable mix needs to be decided
Location of training
Next in training is to decide on the location of training, in this step generally management needs to decide basis the location of venue, minimum and maximum capacity of location, service and amenities and finally cost and availability of the venue on the dates when we are planning to book the venue
Schedule of training
In this step we need to decide how many batches of training we want to conduct in month, whether it will be one day training or two day training. Accordingly schedule of training needs to be decided so that location and facilitator/trainers can be arranged
Resources needed
In this step we need to decide the resource requirement for the successful conduct of the training, is there any special requirement for system implementation training, do we need computer or internet connection at the venue, basis the objective of training resources needs to be planned and arranged in advance.
Training the trainer
Training the trainer means, company identifies a group of people who can be trained as process champion initially so that they can further share the learning of training with large group of the people, this is an approach now a days companies following to cover large group of employees, as it is not possible to train 10000 employee only with 2 trainers in minimum time so they first conduct a train the trainer program where they can initially train group of people who can further train other employees.
Conducting the training
On the day of the training, ensure all the resources reached to venue a day prior, and all the logistics has been arranged so the training can be conducted without any issues.
Additional periodic ongoing trainings
Sometimes in training, a follow up training is required after main training so that employees don’t forget the concepts learned during the main event. It is normally applicable with the training related to technology or system implementation
Computer-assisted training
These are those training which are conducted with the help of computer, as our training is implementation of system, computer led training can be useful to deliver and achieve the result quickly.
