The center-to-center distance from reference hole A to hole B is 3.00"+/-0.11". Hole A will be (4.0/-0.1"). If a jig is to be used to locate hole B by inserting a locator pin in hole A of o(3.85+/-0.05"), due to the slack between the jig locator pin and hole A: What are the potential limits in the location of hole B? b. Are these potential limits acceptable? c If the potential limits are not acceptable, how would you make them acceptable? 9) a 10) In problem 9c, a bushing will be used to make hole B. What should be the specification for bushing location tolerance? 11) Design a jig to make a circular pattern of 6 holes to be equally spaced on a circle 5 inches in diameter, as shown in the figure. The holes will be e(0.25+0.005/-0.000) inch, and will have a location tolerance of o0.014 RFS. The 5-inch diameter circular pattern is concentric to a e0.5+/- 0.005 inch center hole. The part arrives at the drilling station faced, and with the e0.5-inch center hole already bored to specifications. The holes are all through holes on the 0.75" thick circular plate. Choose an appropriate jig type (universal, plate, indexable, etc) a. b. Specify a suitable jig locator diameter to comply with given part tolerancing c. Specify suitable bushing location tolerance. d. Provide a 3-D model of your jig. You can sketch by hand or any CAD software of your preference. e. Provide orthographic projections of your jig with appropriate GD&T notation. Your drawing details should reflect the Engineering Graphics rules that we have reviewed during IME 676 lecture. You need not be "fully formal" with the projections, since I do not expect you to have passed Engineering Graphics prior to enrolling IME 676. 1If you need extra help, do not hesitate to ask me. g05 a0 21
12) A fixture will be designed to hold a part in a vise that will be produced in mass quantities. The part reference point is the lower left corner closest to the mill operator. Make a hand-sketch of a suitable fixture. The sketch should depict an appropriate feature reference frame and ergonomic clamps. If easier for you, use CATIA to produce the sketch. NOTE: This is an open design question. Apply the fixture design concepts in Lec 3 qualitatively, but explain the motivation for your different choices.
