Answer #1

Mean for Cyclic consumer (X) = 655.3/100 = 6.553

Mean for Industrial (X)  = 1478.4/100 = 14.784

Median for Cyclic consumer sector ( M) = (3.2 + 3.4)/2 = 3.3

Median for Industrial sector (M) = (10.6 + 10.8)/2 = 10.7

Xconsumer cyclical = 6.553

Mconsumer cyclical = 3.3

Which sector has the higher mean rate of return?

Industrial sector have the higher mean rate of return. (14.784 > 6.553)

Which sector has the higher median rate of return?

Industrial sector has the higher median rate of return (10.7 is greater than 3.3)
