Geriatric age group is one of the vulnerable age group .they are mostly the recipients of various kinds of abuse because of theie impaired sensory perception,impaired cognitive functioning,social isolation,their dependency on others .elder abuse can be assessed by a detailed interview of the elderly client,a reliable tool to identify the risk for abuse is elder abuse suspicion index which asks various kinds of questions like did anybody deprive you of food,clothing ,did anybody touch you inappropriately.if there is one yes in any of the 6 questions then the elder is the suspect for abuse .the further assessment should include physical examination which can reveal certain bruises or injury mark can indicate physical abuse.then assessment of the cognitive functioning,mental status,nutrition,general health all will helps us to identify elder abuse .
