Answer: Due to diversity in the population, culturally competent care has become one to the major need of the present era that should be delivered by healthcare professionals. The most challenging aspect of providing culturally competent care as people are from different race, region etc hence they have their own beliefs and moral values. To convince people for choosing better health options or treatment line, it becomes difficult as sometimes most of the people are unable to understand the need of the treatment and they stick to their own beliefs and values.
As a Nurse, it has been many times that healthcare professionals face many cultural rituals in the line of work. One of the patients that was not native of United States, for the treatment of the disease they were following the scientifically unapproved drugs which may cause more seriousness to the patient. It was hard to convince him not to take those types of medication. Most of the time communication problem becomes a major concern while providing culturally competent care.
