Contribution margin=Sales-Variable cost  

=31-13=$18per bear

Breakeven=Fixed expenses/Contribution margin

=2466/18=137 bears

Total sales=Breakeven+Margin of safety

Margin of safety=(277-137)=140 units

=(140*31)=$4340

Margin of safety% =Margin of safety/Total sales

=140/277=50.54%(Approx).
