Three friends, Senji, Marta, and Cole, wait in line for hours to see the premiere of a much-anticipated movie. As they get to the ticket booth, an usher comes out and tells the crowd that there are only three seats left, and the seats are not together. One seat is in the front row, another is in the middle of the theater, and the third seat is in the back by the door. The three friends decide to see the movie even though they will not be able to sit together. They must decide who will get each seat so they decide to use the method of points. The friends each divide 100 points among the three seats, and their point assignments are listed in the following table.

a. Use the method of points to assign the friends to the seats.

b. Explain why the arrangement arrived at using the method of points is the fairest possible assignment of seats.
