Figure Q10.16 shows a popular demonstration involving a moving fluid. Here an air “jet” is aimed upward and levitates a small object such as a table-tennis ball. The ball is drawn to the center of the jet, where the speed is greatest. This behavior is found when the air jet is directed vertically (Fig. Q10.16 left) and also when the jet is directed at an angle (Fig. Q10.16 right). Use Bernoulli’s equation to explain this behavior.
